Leonardo Da Vinci painted The Last Supper and Michelangelo immortalized Adam’s creation on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, but New York art director Peter Jostrand finds inspiration for his art in more unassuming places. In a series titled “Flat Butts” that’s featured on the designer’s quirky blog, animal posteriors take center stage in a unique homage to minimalistic art.
Speaking to Fast Company, Jostrand explains the inspiration came from a design meeting that featured a circle on a page in a discussion of minimalism. Design’s flat trend is in full view on his backside blog with posteriors of a pig, tiger, peacock and everyone’s favorite scarlet baboon booty, to name just a few. There’s even a special “Butt of the Day” revealed daily for added enjoyment.
With 50 animals already in queue and countless species there for the inspiration, Jostrand’s art options are virtually unending—check out his work for a dash of Friday fun.
